| PSA IDENTITY CONTEST IS OPEN AGAIN FOR 3 WEEKS |
We are extending the identity logo design contest. If you would like to participate in the concept and design of our new identity logo, please follow the guidelines below for your submissions. If you have already submitted any designs, you will need to resubmit them following the new guidelines. The board will review all submissions and choose a group of designs to be presented at the May General Meeting for a full membership vote. You must be present to vote. (Date and time to be determined.)
Please keep in mind that good identity design is essentially simple, and derives it’s meaning from the quality of what it symbolizes. An effective logo identity should have: universality, durability, timelessnes. An effective logo identity should be: Simple, Distinctive, Visible, Usable, Memorable.
We currently have a logo comprised of three initials "PSA," however, a logo by itself does not inform people about the meaning behind the acronym. Therefore you must include the words "Pasadena Society of Artists" as part of any logo design you submit. Since we are a group of diverse artistic talents, you may want to stress the word "Artists" but it is not required. Please see the requirement list below. Submissions not conforming to these requirements will be disqualified. If you have any questions please contact Katina Desmond, Marketing Committee, email, or 626-441-5609.
REQUIREMENTS for your design submissions:
1. Must include the words "Pasadena Society of Artists"
2. "Pasadena Society of Artists" MAY be accompanied by an adjacent logo symbol
3. You MAY use the initials "PSA" or you MAY create an artistic symbol instead
4. Design must be presented in black & white only. Once the final logo is chosen it will be rendered in color for color usage and refined by the Marketing Committee for a complete usage style sheet.
5. Present each logo design on a separate 8.5 x 11” piece of paper (no mounting necessary)
6. Place your name and contact info on the BACK of each entry
7. You may present up to 5 designs
8. Submissions must be received no later than Wednesday, April 9, 2008
9. Mail your designs to Pasadena Society of Artists P.O. Box 90074 Pasadena, CA 91109

| SPREAD YOUR WINGS |
CALADAN GALLERY presents "PLANT LIFE", a juried exhibition. It is in the shadows of itself; exists, breaths, and prospers under the snow in a clear day in winter; lives in the dark crevices of the ocean floor; abounds with and harbors life in the thick jungle; dots and transforms the desert landscape; enjoys a seasonal renaissance in temperate climates. Plant life gives life to us and we in turn, afford ourselves to it. We are in an inescapable romance, a giving and taking of life's energy with that which grows around us. It grows in the cracks of concrete in the urban complexity; it flourishes in the most inopportune of places. Artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital media, textiles, mixed media, and installation are eligible. Caladan has a new format! To view it and to download prospectus go to: caladangallery.com and click on "Enter Upcoming Exhibition", or write to: Box 391939, Cambridge MA 02139. Or call us at: 978-979-8922. Fee is $20/3 images.
